CHATEAU GRAND VILLAGE
Chateau Grand Village is located north of Fronsac in the small reigon of Mouillac. The vineyards of Grand Village have been hands of the same family since the 17th century. The vineyard is nearly 18 hectares and is planted with 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The terroir is a mix clay and limestone. All their grapes are hand-picked and age their wine, on average, in 33% new French oak barrels for 15 months.

"The Grand Village is wine from their family estate and their 2009, a blend of 75% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, is a sleeper of the vintage. The good news is that there are 5,000 cases of this wine, which shows loads of raspberries and cherries, silky tannins, wonderful elegance and a medium-bodied mouthfeel. The family has been farming this same terroir for over 500 years!"
